How Natalia got its name...
Originally founded in 1912 by Dr. Fred Stark Pearson, Natalia is on the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Natalia was established to be the Headquarters of the San Antonio Suburban Irrigated Farms, now known as Bexar, Medina, Atascosa Water Improvement District (BMA) and was named after the daughter of our founder. Her name was Natalie Pearson Nicholson.
Oddly enough, Natalie’s name was misspelled on the U.S. Post Office records; they dropped the “e” and added an “a,” and to this very day, it is known as Natalia.
Natalie Pearson never visited the community named after her. She knew it existed, but she chose to live out her life in England.
